Ruler: Alexander the Great
Date: 336-323 BC
Even though this area was under Roman control during the 1st Century, the Greek coins of previous rulers are the more common coins to be in use in Judea.
After Alexander the Great died his kingdom was divided into two Empires by two of his Generals. So we have the Seleucid and the Ptolemaic Kingdoms. The fertile land of Judea was occupied at different times by both Empires and so coins of both Kingdoms are plentiful in Judea, but some cities are rarer, and therefore more collectible, than others.
